I am experiencing more close calls with vehicles entering South Oakview Road from the East Towne Mall and from the lane servicing Dunkin’ Donuts, the hotel and the self-storage facility. The new Sheetz nearing completion will hopefully exit directly onto route 30 and not onto Oakview, otherwise safety on Oakview will deteriorate further. It seems that reconfiguring South Oakview to narrow it for this new trail project runs counter to the need for safety enhancement given its increasing commercial traffic burden.
As a resident of Summit At Mill Creek, I think the new trail is a great safety improvement for cyclists and walkers, providing a safe alternative to Greenland Drive. I do have one question: what is the short section of trail that branches off Greenland Drive east of Coreopsis Drive? It’s an asphalt path that extends to the edge of LMH’s athletic fields and dead ends? Will this eventually be another part of the trail? Will it cross the LMH campus?
